Generally, esports has been a male-dominated industry from the get-go where the highest level of competitiveness has always come from male players, VALORANT being no exception. However, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t female talents in the scene. Quite on the contrary, game developers and tournament organizers have noticed this and introduced exclusive women’s tournaments to promote female talents in the industry. Some well-known games that feature female-exclusive tournaments include Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Woman Star League Invitational), PUBG Mobile, CoD Mobile, and even more dominant titles such as CS:GO and League of Legends.

And since VALORANT launch in 2020, the game and the internet have seen plenty more talented female players rise to the top. However, they haven’t gotten an official platform or a league to show off their skills, at least until a year back. Observing the rising number of talents belonging to marginalized genders (trans and cis women, as well as all trans, Two Spirit, and nonbinary people) and third-party women-exclusive tournaments, Riot has finally introduced a VALORANT tournament exclusive for women and other marginalized genders: VCT Game Changers.

Everything you need to know about VCT Game Changers

VCT Game Changers was first announced in early 2021 and became a reality right after. The tournament first came to the main regions including, North America, EMEA region (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) in an online format and was later introduced to more regions. The VCT Game Changers series has been a success from the beginning and since the COVID-19 restrictions have become lighter, Riot has decided to take it to the next step and organize the first-ever LAN tournament for the title.

Most of you might have already noticed the VCT Game Changers promotional banners across some of the in-game maps and VCT Game Changers is planned to take place this 2022 from November 15 to 20, in Berlin, Germany. Eight of the best teams across multiple regions have qualified to compete in this high-level tournament and will be competing for a massive prize pool of $500,000. Following is a rundown of all the qualified teams for the first-ever VCT Game Changers LAN tournament and the brackets.

VCT: Game Changers Championship 2022 Qualified Teams and Bracket

The upcoming tournament features 8 teams from the official VALORANT competitive regions, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), North America (NA), Brazil (BR), Latin America (LATAM), East Asia, and Asia-Pacific (APAC). While the main regions, NA and Europe receive 2 slots in the upcoming tournament, the rest receives only one each. Now that all the regional qualifiers have concluded, Riot has released the tournament’s format.

The tournament will take place in a double-elimination format where losing teams still have a chance at making it into the finals via the lower bracket.

1. Cloud9 White

Cloud9 White has been a dominant team in the Game Changes tournament in the North American region and their tournament history proves it. They have not only dominated women’s teams but also all-male rosters in their climb in the North American VALORANT Champions Tour open qualifiers. This team is a force to be reckoned with. They earned their spot in the upcoming tournament by winning the NA Game Changers Series 3.

2. Shopify Rebellion GC

They don’t exactly pack a top-dog name in the esports industry but Shopify Rebellion GC is a very competent team heading on to this tournament. They were the only team to take down Cloud9 Whites to win a series in NA Game Changers tournaments. They earned their spot at the VCT Game Changers tournament through the NA region’s Circuit Points. Looks like they're getting ready for Berlin, as you can see from their Twitter!

3. Team Liquid Brazil

Team Liquid’s main roster is a prominent name in the VALORANT esports scene. And their Brazil team has been dominating the Game Changers in Brazil from the start. The team managed to win both the Brazilian Game Changer tournaments this year and qualified for the VCT Game Changers with almost twice the Circuit Points to the next nearest team.

• Natália "nat1" Meneses

• Natália "daiki" Vilela

• Paula "bstrdd" Naguil

4. Krü Fem

The Argentinian esports organization, Krü Esports signed the Chilean roster back in January and the team was officially formed as Krü Fem. Since their debut, the team has only lost 1 series in the Latin American region (LATAM) and they qualified for the VCT Game Changers by winning the Game Changers Latin America Regional Final.

5. G2 Gozen

The most dominant team in the European region comes from non-other than G2 Esports. G2 Gozen being the official team name, the all-female roster has won four of the six EMEA Game Changers tournaments and managed to rank in the top 3 in the other two they failed to win. Even though they failed to win the Game Changers EMEA Series 3, they earned their spot in the upcoming grand tournament through Circuit Points.

6. Guild X

Guild X has been the biggest challenger for G2 Gozen in the EMEA region and is considered the 2nd best team in the region. They have often come second to G2 Gozen in three instances in the EMEA Series finals before finally beating them in Game Changers EMEA Series 3 this year to win the title and a spot in the VCT Game Changers grand tourney.

7. FENNEL Female

This Japanese team is quite new to the scene and does not have much experience on the main stages. The team was formed only last June 2022 but has been a top performer in the East Asia region. FENNEL Female managed to win the Game Changers East Asia title this year by beating the Korean team who has previously been dominating the region, Spear Gaming Female.

• Suzu (Loan from ZETA DIVISION GC)

8. X10 Sapphire

The Thai team qualified for the upcoming Game Changers main event by winning the Game Changers APAC Elite tournament. The team hasn’t been the most dominant in the region and came only in 4th place in Circuit Points for APAC. However, they managed to pull it off by APAC’s Last Chance Qualifier and winning the Game Changers series later.

The team consists of:

The Best female Players in VALORANT 2022 

It’s quite hard to predict which team will win the first LAN event in the history of Game Changers tournaments. And it is also quite difficult to determine which players are the best-performing ones as most of them haven’t had the chance to face the rest of the competition from other regions. However, current stats can give us a clear look at which players have been dominating and performing well in the past series.

However, it is also quite important to notice that the players from G2 Gozen on the aforementioned list have only played 1 map instead of 2 or 3 due to team UP's technical difficulties.

While most of the top-ranking players from the list failed to make it into the VCT: Game Changers Championship 4 players from the 2 most dominant teams in the region, G2 Gozen and Guild X has managed to make the list. But will they manage to retain their spots and show the world that the female VALORANT esports scene is also dominated by the European region?

Who will win VCT Game Changers in 2022?

It is quite evident that the 2 European teams G2 Gozen and Guild X  are on par with the rest of the competition or even ahead of some, just by taking a quick glance at their history and stats. 

On the other hand, American teams like Cloud9 White, Team Liquid Brazil, and Shopify Rebellion GC have been fan favorites and count on very good team players, so they definitely have a good chance of winning the series as well.

The most eye-catching out of the bunch is the Game Changers Player Card players can earn by simply tuning in to Grand Final broadcasts. To earn this reward, fans must link their Riot Accounts to their Youtube and Twitch accounts and simply watch the finals on Sunday, November 20 at 17:00 CET or 8:00 AM PST. You will only be able to earn this card on the finals day but you can tune in on the rest of the days to earn the “Game Changer” title, starting November 15 to 19.
